Employees in coroner's office told, 'Reapply to your job'

DENVER -- Seeing workers carrying boxes out of a building that used to be their employer has become a familiar sight.

On Thursday, 11 employees of the Adams County Coroner's Office were told they would have to reapply for their jobs.

"I was offered a position in October and I was quite shocked that this took place today," says Laura Ward, who worked as a Deputy Coroner Investigator.
The positions range from deputy coroner to administrative clerk.
"It was not easy," says new Coroner Monica Broncucia-Jordan.   The new coroner says the people of Adams County deserve the most qualified people for the positions.  She said the 11 people let go were welcome to re-apply for their old positions.
Broncucia-Jordan recently won the Coroner's election with the slogan Competence, Compassion, Change.

New medical marijuana rules to include video surveillance, seed tracking

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Marijuana shops in Colorado are closer to having the nation's most detailed rules as a state regulation panel wrapped up work Monday on hundreds of pages of rules regulating how shops operate.

Video surveillance, labeling requirements and seed-to-sale tracking for medical marijuana highlight the rules planned for the estimated 800 pot shops that applied for state permits for commercial marijuana sales.

The rules also include the nation's first guidelines for the safe production of marijuana, hashish and edible marijuana products.

After public hearings in January, the rules could take effect by March.
