Northern Colorado Regional Crime Lab Groundbreaking

More than 65 people gathered Wednesday morning in west Greeley for the official groundbreaking of the Northern Colorado Regional Crime Lab. Representatives from the five participating agencies were joined by the public to celebrate a milestone in a project more than five years in the making.

“This is an exciting day for law enforcement in Northern Colorado,” said Weld County Commissioner Chairman Sean Conway. “And it is an exciting day for the residents of Weld and Larimer Counties.

Thornton man arrested for distributing and posessing child pornography

 Daniel Ivan Ashby, age 39, of Thornton, Colorado, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on July 9, 2012, on charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.  He surrendered to special agents with the FBI on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI announced.  Ashby is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Denver at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon before Magistrate Judge Craig B. Shaffer for a detention hearing and for arraignment.

Adams County Investigates Drug Allegations

In March 2012, Adams County began an internal investigation in response to information that controlled substances were being distributed among several county employees in the Human Services Department. County officials promptly informed law enforcement and a criminal investigation began.
