Adams County begins public involvement phase of the Stormwater Utility Implementation Project | Environment
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Adams County is seeking community input on the implementation of a stormwater utility for the unincorporated area of Adams County, west of Schumaker Road. Public education and community input meetings will be held on June 11, 14, 18 and 20 (times and locations listed below).
Mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Colorado, stormwater management helps preserve the natural environment by keeping polluted stormwater out of waterways, such as creeks, rivers and lakes. It also helps reduce the risk of flooding, protecting people and property. The Adams County stormwater management plan consists of construction and engineering measures, as well as public education initiatives.
The Adams County stormwater utility will be responsible for executing stormwater management activities. The utility will also have authority to secure public financing to address stormwater program costs. Under current implementation plans, Adams County is considering a fee based on per square feet of developed surfaces, such as rooftops and paved parking lots.
Residents in unincorporated Adams County are encouraged to view a 10-minute informational video at adcogov.org/stormwater and to email comments via the website at www.adcogov.org. In addition, residents can provide input by calling the Stormwater Quality Office at 720.523.6400 or attending one of the following public education and community input meetings:
