5 mph can be difference between life, death this Halloween

DENVER - With a forecast of mild weather, thousands of young trick-or-treaters will be in harm's way on Colorado streets this Halloween. Driving just 5 mph above city speed limits puts those young lives at greater risk.

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, a pedestrian is nearly twice as likely to be killed if they're hit by a car going 30 mph compared to if they're hit at 25 mph. This small 5 mph difference can literally be the difference between life and death.

Organization Offers Tips to Adult Children on Approaching Difficult Conversations With Aging Parents

Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC), a ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church, is hosting a free community workshop to assist families with discussions and decisions regarding aging parents. “A Heart To Heart About Your Aging Parents” will take place on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Covenant Village of Colorado (9153 Yarrow Street, Westminster, CO 80021).

The D.L. Parsons Theatre is proud to announce that the theatre’s resident youth theatre company, the Northglenn Youth Theatre, has been honored with one award and three nominations from the National Youth Theatre for their work in the past year.

The Northglenn Parks and Recreation Advisory Boards will hold a public hearing to discuss recreation-related capital improvement projects in the city.

The board is seeking public input and citizen ideas to help them make their recommendations to the city council.
