News

THORNTON, Colo. -- Police are looking for a man accused of attempting to kidnap a woman at the Walmart store at 9901 Grant Street in Thornton around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, and they are hoping someone will recognize the suspect.

The victim told police that she was followed into the store by a man she didn't know, who then followed her to her car as she left.

Police say the victim did the right things to save her life.

The suspect allegedly threatened the woman with a handgun before grabbing her arm and trying to force her into the car. Several bystanders came to the woman's aid after she yelled for help and the suspect left the scene.

Police describe the suspect as 25-35 years of age, approximately six feet tall, weighing 200 to 220 pounds. He has short blond hair, balding, and was wearing thin wire eye glasses. The suspect was wearing dark colored heavy winter coat, black t-shirt, white tennis shoes, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Metro Area Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.

Police say you can protect yourself when making late night shopping stops by parking in a well lit area near the entrance to the store. Do what the victim did in this case once she was threatened: yell for help.
