Adams County Commissioners announce RTD Board Vacancy Appointment

The Adams County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Gore of Thornton to serve the remaining five-month term as District K director on the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board.

Gore will continue to serve as the president and chief executive of Adams County Economic Development (ACED). He replaced outgoing appointee Kathi Williams effective August 1, 2012. Williams’ last day on the RTD Board was July 31, 2012. Voters will choose a new director for District K in November’s election. Gore is not running for the open seat.

“Barry is well-qualified to represent Adams County at RTD,” said Chairman W.R. “Skip” Fischer.  “He is knowledgeable about all facets of transit and transportation and will provide solid leadership until a newly-elected director takes office in January.”

Gore brings a broad base of experience to the position. He serves and represents the Adams County community as the 2012 Chair of the Metro Denver Economic Development Professionals; a North Metro board member of the Economic Development Council of Colorado; and as a professional liaison for the state legislature’s Economic Vitality Caucus. He advocates for transportation issues and infrastructure improvements as a member of the Front Range Airport Authority, the North Area Transportation Alliance (NATA), the North 1-25 PEL Executive Committee, and Adams County’s Stormwater Advisory Committee.

RTD is governed by a 15-member, publicly elected board of directors. Directors are elected to a four-year term and represent a specific district.
